We welcome back the well-established Zephyr wind group who played brilliantly for us a few years ago. They are all renowned musicians drawn from Britain's leading orchestras.

The York Waits present a rousing programme of Christmas music from different countries. Their versatility in playing a large number of instruments that were popular in the 16th and 17th centuries is outstanding and we are looking forward to a concert that will emphatically mark the start of the Christmas season.
This concert is sponsored by Baines Jewitt Solutions Limited.
THE RIVOLI STRING QUARTET
Stokesley
Methodist Church
Sunday, 13th January 2013 at 4:00 pm

We were indebted to the Rivoli Quartet for playing for us at short notice in 2009 when another quartet had suddenly disbanded and many suggested that we should invite them again. They were formed at Manchester University and were coached by Peter Cropper of The Lindsays. They won the Prix Ravel and have made a speciality of the music of the Czech Jewish composer, Erwin Schulhoff.

This young quartet won the Royal Philharmonic Society's prestigious Isserlis scholarship and are recent prize winners at the Sandor Vegh competition in Budapest. They are the quartet in residence at Bangor University and make their debut at the Purcell Room and Wigmore Hall shortly. Their speciality is to work with composers and they will choose a new piece which they deem suitable for us nearer the date to be sandwiched between two well known classics.

Sunday, 3rd March 2013 at 7:45 pm

Min-Jin Kym is a wonderful musician, who has recorded concertos with the Philharmonia. Ruggiero Ricci said she is “the most talented violinist I have ever worked with”.
Jamie Walton, who has recorded 10 concertos with the Philharmonia is well-known in this area as founder and director of the North Yorkshire Moors Chamber Music Festival. We are fortunate to be able to hear these two international stars perform music together which too rarely gets an airing.
